Author: Simi George, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, MPA/ID Candidate Hello! We are a team of Harvard graduate students hoping to contribute to the work and mission of the Cambridge Community Center through a project for a class. As part of this project, we are looking to trade up from a little red paper clip to something of value to the Community Center. This project is inspired by the true story of a Canadian blogger, Kyle Macdonald, who traded up from a red paperclip to a… house! For further details, please visit http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/. While we do not yet have a house in our cache, so far, we have traded our paperclips for a range of items including air conditioning units and an autographed copy of a book by acclaimed writer, Ian McEwan. Our current stock of items for trade include a set of pots & pans (one large pot, a smaller pot and a small frying pan), two air conditioning units in excellent condition, an autographed copy of Ian McEwan’s book, On Chesil Beach, a ladies’ scarf and a ring, a John Lennon Signature Series harmonica, and a desk lamp. We are not necessarily looking to trade these items for a van, but for anything of value. CCC has a variety of needs at the moment, ranging from art supplies to a sound system to a van. We are ambitiously aiming for the van. That said, we welcome all trades, no matter how small the object being traded, that will help us to achieve this goal for CCC’s benefit. Here are some pictures of our previous trades: We will be at the Cambridge Winter Farmers Market this Saturday, March 29th from 10am to 1pm. We look forward to seeing you there! Please come speak to us if you have something interesting to exchange, or simply want to help CCC (or us!).
If you can’t make it on Saturday, please come and say hello to us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/bandbccc/info), or by email at [email protected]. Thank you for your time and interest!
