Who we are...Located in the Riverside neighborhood of Cambridge, between Central Square and Memorial Drive, the Cambridge Community Center has been serving the Cambridge area since its founding as a community meeting house in 1929. Over the years, the Center has served 3rd, 4th and 5th family generations.
Our mission is to promote community cooperation and unity and empower youth, individuals, and families. We do this by offering social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities. We are here for the community. We are here for you. Join us to learn, grow, connect. |
What we do...
Youth programs
Our year-round out-of-school-time program serves children grades K-8. We strive to provide a 1:4 adult to child ratio through the use of staff, interns, and volunteers. We work with several local organizations like the Museum of Science, New England Aquarium, and universities such as Harvard, MIT, and the Lesley University Expressive Arts Therapy program to provide our children the very best academic and social opportunities. Our spacious indoor facilities includes a full-size gymnasium for recreation, common room for group activities, and classrooms for tutoring and other educational activities. We also have an outdoor playground and many floral and edible garden plots for education and recreation. We are also proud to offer tuition assistance to income eligible families. Our After School Program runs September to June (including school vacations) and our full-day summer enrichment camp Cowemoki runs July to August. And kick summer off right June 19-29 at Summer Kickoff Camp. Summer is just around the corner so sign up today! |

Community programs
We offer a meeting place for various community groups such as a parents’ cooperative daycare, adult basketball leagues, and even circus performers. We are the home of the Riverside Gallery, which is open to the public and exhibits the works of local artists (and sometimes the art of the after-school kids!). This year the Community Center also started the Cambridge Winter Farmers Market, supporting local farmers and producers and creating greater food access to the community. We also work to improve the health of our community with workshops like What’s Up Diabetes? and others. We also support other Cambridge events, so make sure to check back here to see how you can get involved with your community as a whole. |
