Work with children
We need volunteers to tutor children with homework and reading. We are also looking for volunteers with special talents to teach such as knitting, chess, sewing, drawing, and martial arts.

We need volunteers to tutor children with homework and reading. We are also looking for volunteers with special talents to teach such as knitting, chess, sewing, drawing, and martial arts.
After School Program
- Homework support (between 2:15 and 4:30)
- Tutors in various subjects (except for literacy; we are well covered in that area; same hours as above)
- As assistants in after school program classrooms – help organize activities, read to kids, chaperone local trips (between 2:15 and 5:30)
Maintenance Work
- Cleaning and general maintenance – our building is large and in constant need to touch-ups and minor repairs. We can host individuals or crews of up to 40 people with advance notice.
- Skilled repairs – we have a variety of carpentry, hardware and other skilled maintenance projects that don’t require a licensed craftsman. If you have carpentry or construction skills, please let us know!
- Landscaping – we have flowers to plant, weeds to pull, leaves to rake, mulch to spread — ideal for a crew for a sunny day almost any time of year.
Large Groups
- We can accommodate large groups for big projects like building maintenance, painting, landscaping, canvasing, and more.
Board service and Fundraising
- We are always interested in recruiting active, community-minded individuals to serve on our board of directors. We meet monthly except during the summer to set policy and strategic direction for the Center.
- Fundraising – if you have grant writing, event planning, or other fundraising expertise, we can use your help! We depend on donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses to keep
