Van Driver/Assistant Group leader

The Cambridge Community Center is looking for an assistant after school teacher who can also drive our van on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and be a safe and reliable van driver.

Hours: 2pm - 7pm, Monday -- Friday

Description
Upon arrival to work you will do a daily check and cleaning on the inside of the van. You may pick up children from school as needed, depending on current enrollment. Once you return to the building you will work as an assistant group leader with our children until 5:30. During this time you will help children with their homework, help serve snack, and assist our group leaders with running classroom activities and games. At 5:30 you (along with another staff member) will drive the van and drop off 13 children around Cambridge and Somerville. This trip typically takes one hour to complete. You will be done with work around 6:45 - 7:00 everyday.

**Our van driver must have, or be able to obtain a valid Massachusetts 7D license**

Assistant Group Leader Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 homework help for the children
• Supervise the children during activities
• Help group leaders serve snack
• Help group leaders run activities and games

Van Driver Responsibilities
Our van driver is responsible for keeping children in the van safe at all times. This includes:
• Driving safely
• Making sure that all children use seat belts properly
• Performing safety checks on the van
• Knowing and following all regulations for the transportation of school children
• Keeping the van clean

Qualifications
• Must be 21 years old or older
• Must have a valid driver's license for 3 or more years
• Must have, or be able to obtain a valid Massachusetts 7D drivers license or a school bus license
• Must pass a CORI criminal background check and DCF abuse and neglect background check
• Must meet other qualifications for an after school assistant group leader in a licensed program

  • Location: Cambridge, MA
  • Compensation: $12/hour
  • This is a part-time job.
  • This is at a non-profit organization.
